Why Parents & Teachers Choose to Work With Me
Teaching piano has been a meaningful part of my life for many years. What began as a focus on helping students develop musical skills gradually evolved into a deeper interest in how children learn, think, and grow.
Over time, I noticed that many of the challenges students face are not simply about music. They often involve attention, confidence, motivation, and the ability to persevere through difficulties. This realization inspired me to draw upon my background in clinical practice, child development, and research on learning to better support each student's unique journey.
Today, I view music as more than an instrument to be mastered. It is a powerful tool for fostering focus, creativity, confidence, and personal growth, while helping children discover their strengths both in and beyond the studio.

Grounded in music & brain research
Music engages multiple areas of the brain—including attention, memory, coordination, and emotional regulation—making it a powerful medium for learning and development in childhood.Supports how children learn—not just what they learn
Lessons are designed to strengthen focus, confidence, and the way children process and engage with new information, beyond technical skill alone.Developmentally and cognitively informed
Teaching takes into account how children think, feel, and learn, including the emotional and cognitive factors that influence motivation, persistence, and growth.Moves beyond performance-based teaching
Emphasis is placed on attention, expression, and active engagement, rather than solely on correctness or performance outcomes.Integrates learning, development, and musical skill
By aligning musical instruction with principles of brain development, lessons support both skill-building and long-term confidence in a sustainable way.I often return to perspectives like this: How music develops our brains at every age | Dr. Assal Habibi | TEDxManhattanBeach
